Our story
Founded by JEANNE SHEILA UWIBONA under UBUNTU WOMEN FARMERS LTD, Sheila’s Honey began with a vision of creating high-quality natural honey while transforming the lives of women and rural farming communities in Rwanda. What started as a small beekeeping initiative gradually grew into a recognized honey brand committed to purity, sustainability, and social impact.
At the heart of Sheila’s Honey is a strong commitment to social corporate responsibility. The business was inspired by the desire to support women and children living with disabilities, whose strength and determination became the foundation and motivation behind the company’s journey. Through inclusive employment opportunities, community support programs, and empowerment initiatives, Sheila’s Honey continues to create positive change for vulnerable groups while promoting dignity, independence, and hope.
Through the support of partners such as GIZ, BPN, RUGORI INVEST, and PSF, Sheila’s Honey expanded its operations by equipping women farmers with modern beekeeping skills, business development training, and production tools. Today, the company works closely with women cooperatives and supports vulnerable groups, including teen mothers in Bugesera, by creating seasonal employment and income-generating opportunities.
One of the unique strengths behind Sheila’s Honey is its commitment to quality production. The bees are placed in carefully selected forest environments and near avocado plantations to ensure clean, natural, and nutrient-rich honey. Every jar reflects a combination of premium quality, professional packaging, and a story of empowerment from Rwanda to the world.
Beyond honey production, Sheila’s Honey represents a movement that promotes environmental conservation, economic inclusion, and the power of women-led agribusiness. With a growing production capacity and international visibility, the brand continues to position itself as one of Rwanda’s promising agro-processing enterprises dedicated to delivering authentic African honey to local and global markets.
